Steinbock;
If you live in an area that has a medium to large industrial base you can often find business by offering Fluid Power Training in Motel meeting rooms or at larger ompanies traiing facilities. I found that was an inroad for doing the really enjoyable work of designing circuits and trouble shooting faults.

Once management at a company learns of your expertise in the field they usually have recurring prolems that need to be fixed or circuit upgrades to make them more reliable plus anything much t do with Hydraulics and Pneumatics. Trying to sell your services directly usually falls on deaf ears but the back door of training usually gets attention from the persons who have to maintain the equipment.

One good experience from a customer you work with will often get your name broadcast around the area and more work.

I had the fortunate experience of starting with Miller Fluid Power who had in plant and Motel training sessions. All new salesman had to assist in classes to learn the ropes and after a couple of classes was the instructor. I always tried to get my customers to attend the classes since it was a sales tool that kept them calling my number.

In my early retirement I continued doing training, and consulting with companies the trainees came from. Finally had to hang it up when my wife had Colon Cancer and two operations that brought her low.

You can see the books I used for a basic class and part of the one for an advanced circuit design class on the Ebook link on the home page of this forum. A third book on Trouble Shooting Industrial Hydraulic Circuits will be presented later. Trouble shooting classes often followed the basic class and usually had 90% of the basic class students sign up.

Your e books have been a constant support for me and certainly many individuals.

Also very interesting that you are making a book on troubleshooting, I have many typical examples of troubleshooting from previous experiences and would be very much willing to share them.

Bud,

As you mentioned trying from back door, often I have been doing free system design and blogging on repairs and troubleshooting. Hopefully this helps me in getting a job soon.

I have the book and have usd it for several Mechanical Maintenence Apprentice advanced Fluid Power classes. It is strictly hydraulic since that is where 99% of trouble shooting is required. One section of the book has schematics that have some symbol drawn wrong or with components incorrectly applied. An explanation of how the circuit was designed to work followed b what the circuit is doing wrong.

After going through the main portion of the book I use these and other circuits for the students homework practice and grading.

For the apprentice classes I used actual circuits from their company for the examples so we could actually view the circuits up close. Even had one class that got to assist in trouble shooting one of the circuits that had quit operating.

I would be interested in seeing your examples of Trouble Shooting. Seems everyone looks at it in different ways. My Email is fluidpower1@hotmail.com

I have brochures for all three books so you can see their content if you are interested.
