What would you recommend? Given:
Which motor is more attractive? Air-Piston? Axial air turbine? Centripetal air turbine (like aturbocharger)? |

Take a look at this page of all the Air Motor manufacturers specfications.
http://www.hydraulicspneumatics.com/Directory/DrawSpecs1.aspx Start with the Shaft speed-rpm co;umn first. The RPM sped you are asking about will determine the type of air motor you have to choose from You will also notice the Operating Preesure is well below your specification. THX Bud T. Got an error on page load, was able to go back to http://www.hydraulicspneumatics.com/Directory/, then Motors, air to get list. As stated, all had max ratings well below pressure available, so either a step down or new motor is in order. Although step down has loss, new motor might be cost prohibitive, so we'll see after more research to see if there are any real high pressure air turbines (I'd guess 300 psi would be low end tolerable at this time). THX again.

Was your original air pressure 400 PSI instead of the 4000 PSI you asked for?
Most Air products are rated at 250 PSI or less since air supplies are usually under 120 PSI in most plants at the compressore and it is often difficult to maintain 80 PSI at every location in the facility. Where is the "cold" air source coming from? Bud Trinkel FP Consultant Retired "Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, riches take wings.
