Nahum;
Interesting use of Fluid Power. Do you have any cost comparison Hydraulic Drive to a typical Six Speed Chain Drive? How does efficiency compare to a Chain Dive? How about Maintenance? Can the maintenance work be handled by the aveage owner? The All Wheel Drive capabilities is interesting. Also the CVT capabilities are worth a lot. Do you forsee this type drive being an option in the near future? Bud Trinkel FP Consultant Retired "Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, riches take wings. Hi Bud,
1)The Hydrostatic Bicycle is still on Proof Of Concept Stage. 2)The pump and motors have positive seals so volumetric efficiency is arround 98% and mechanical efficiency is much better then chains and sprockets. 3)It is nearly maintenance free drive (if no leakage). 4)Replacement is more complicated. Owner must change a complete wheel or pump. Quick couplings will be needed . In any case it is much complicted compared to traditional transmission. 5)CVT-constant velocity transmission is not suitable. CHP-constant horse power is part of the transmission (Power=Torque x Speed). The idea is to have a CHP with manual override to suit different riders.The option of 2 wheel drive at low speed and high tractive torque and 1 wheel drive at half the torque and twice the speed is an important feature. I am sure that those who can efford the cost and use off road and mountain bicycle are the potential customers. Near future , I need investors to bring it into a commertial product. ![]() |
