I am from india running a soap factory and have a 380 kw electric load.Plant have big machinery e.g. a plodder. In plodder drive assembly has a heavy duty reduction gear box with 80mm output shaft and 40 hp motorIs it possible , or Can we repalce gear box and motor by using hydromotors.and what will the arrangment and cost factor.and what effect on my electric load.RegardsGurmit Singh deoganshivalik agro polyproducts limited,plot no-01, sector-03,Parwanoo(HP)India+919816030963

It's possible as long as you can find a motor which delivers the same output torque as the combination drive you have now within a suitable pressure range for your pump. If the system efficiency remains the same there will be no change relative to your existing energy requirement. Beyond that you have not supplied enough for an informative response.

You have an efficient circuit presently.

What added features are you look ing for by going to a Hydraulic Motor and Pump Drive????

It has been my experience that supplying the same torque at the driven unit a hydraulic drive must be sized 50-100% larger.

Hydraulic pumps and hydraulic motors are only abiut 85% efficient when new and continually lose efficiency as they wear. That means they must be oversize to run for any length of time and still have the required torque and speed.

If you are looking for variable speed stalling without energy waste or system damage or fast smooth reversing then a hydraulic drive would be the way to go.

what will the size of drive?
what will the air pressure?
Efficency of the drive?
can be save electricy? more important!!!
have any web site where hydro-pneumatic litrature available.

My original post was for Oil Hydraulics. If you want a Pneumatic Motor as the drive you will need 4-6 times the HP to compress enough air to equal the present gear dive. Extremely impractical.

Your local Fuid Power Distributor or Manufacturer can supply information on Motor,Pump, Valves and Hydraulic or Pneumatic motors for your application.

For sites with Fluid Power equipment go to www.hydraulicspneumatics.com and look in the "Designers Guide" for manufacturers and suppliers.

As for designing your circuit from members of this or other forums it is impractical in most cases and asking for time that many charge 90-120 dollars per hour for.
