Hi all,

I need any hydraulic valve to keep safe an oil pressure gauge.
I mean i need something adjustable to evit a higher pressure than the oil gauge range.

Someone will said to me"Buy another gauge with a higher range"
This option is not valid for me,due the oil guge is the original one from a classic car and i cant to cahnge the original look.
The car now has a performed engine, with a high pressure oil pump and the gauge sometimes exceeds it,s limits.

So if for example,i have 90 psi from the engine and the gauge only can read until 80 psi,i would need to have something adjustable to evit more then 80 psi on the inlet.

I don,t know if it will exist something for this aplication.

Thanks for any reply.
Regards.

Change your oil pump to "high flow" same pressure.Thats if it really means something to you or how about a hidden guage you can see when required and keep the old as an ornament in the dash, call some reputable pump suppliers as I am sure something is available to you.High flow oil pumps are better than high pressure I believe because you can have a teaspoon of oil at the same pressure as a drum full

Is it possible to install the works of a higher pressure gauge in the housing of the gauge you prefer. The pressure indication will be wrong but the esthetics will be what you want.

The hydraulical device you are looking for is a Reducing Valve and can be purchased from any hydraulic component supplier. However I doubt you will find one that operates at this low pressure since most hydraulic circuits are around 1,000 PSI operating pressure or higher.

Thanks for the replies.

I would prefer to looking a small reducing valve before to mount other gauge.
For this aplication some people is using a pneumatic reducing valve from Airman inc, with good results .
They are designed for work with air,but they seem to work Ok with oil too.

The trouble is that i,m from Spain and i can,t to find any dealer for send one to me from the states.

You need a guage protector. A quick search found the information below from Circle Seal. Their website says they have a distributor/representative in Barcelona. They are available with cutout pressures as low as 5 psi. I am sure there are other manufacturers out their.
