ok i could be way off base with this little theory but bare with me.
im looking to convert a suzuki samuri to fully hydraulic drive. my theory would be to drive a hydraulic pump directly from the transmission output shaft and use two hydraulic motors to drive the axles. i would like to keep the ratio of the hydraulic pump and motors as close to 1/1 as possable. meaning for every revolution of the pump the motors produce close to 1 revolution. the pump can be as large as needed, although i would like to keep the motors as small as possable. the stock samurai engine produces 55 foot lbs of torque at the crank shaft. i dont know what it produces at the transmission output shaft. im adding this info so you know how little power it takes to drive this vehicle at 60 mph and pull it up pretty much anything you put in front of it. im trying to keep this thing in the 55-60 mph range if possable in order for it to make short journeys too and from the trails. i am an automobile technitian so i understand enough about hydraulic theory to get most of what you throw my way, but still go easy on me. |
