hi,

I have this below circuit diagram of a hydraulic device consisting of a revolving table, a telescopic boom connected to a lifting actuator (the derrick cylinder) and a leveling cylinder to keep the platform as level as possible.

Can someone tell me the function of this circuit (how does it actually works) and the name of each component ??

Another question is how and why certain movememnts and functions are related to one another ?? and what any additions, modifications or replacements can i do to improve the quality and performance of this unit.

Thanks

JDM

Most on this or other Forums, including myself, will not have anything to do with a circuit that may be a liability situation. These types of circuits are designed by companies that have the Liabiliy Insurance to keep them from losing everything when a screwed up circut gets someone hurt or worse.

You can see a lot of symbols in the Basic Ebook in chapter 4 on the home page of this forum (Back to HydraulicsPneumatics.com below). The symbols have a short description and a cutaway of a typical valve the symbol represents. Take a look and see if that helps.

The book is for an Industrial Fluid Power class and can help decipher the circuit. I'm sure your teacher will be better satisfied if you learn it on your own and not be hand fed by persons on this forum.

If this is not a class project then run far away from doing anything on the circuit unless you have a lot of money laying around and don't mind spending it on Lawyer fees or you don't mind the State paying for your Meals and Lodging if/wnen someone gets hurt by your modifications.

hi guys,

i start to find how this circuit works and finding the function of each component. can someone guide me with this and tell me if i'm wrong or not and give me some more help please.

thanks

the following is what i made until now.

Dcv 1 : -
LHS (left hand side)
- Fluid reaches slew motor and provides rotational motion in one direction
- Fluid continues to flow through the other side and returns to drain

RHS (right hand side)
- Fluid reaches slew motor from the lhs and provides rotational movement in opposite direction.
- Fluid continues to flow through the other side and returns to drain.
The 2 relief valves are actuated in case of built up of pressure (eg seizure of motor or overloading)
Leak off drain to deal with any leakages of the motor.

DCV 2
LHS
- Fluid passes from the non return valve up to the derrick cylinder.
- The actuator is extended and the fluid on the rod side is drained.
- When the derrick cylinder is totally extended there will be a pressure build up and activates the pressure switch. When the pressure switch is off the on and off valve is at the closed position and fluid does not pass.
-
- The spool valve is actuated by 2 pilot lines

RHS
- Fluid flows upwards from the lhs and reaches DCV 4
- Since this has a closed port fluid cant keep flowing and eventually the relief valve is actuated. Thus fluid goes to drain.

DCV 3
LHS
- Fluid pass from the right hand side passes through the non return valve and extends the boom cylinder.
- The fluid on the rod end will flow through the (direct pressure v/v)

RHS
- Fluid passes through the lhs and eventually gives a signal so that it actuates the valve and enables fluid to pass up to the rod end as a result the boom is retracted.
- Fluid on the end cap flows through the relief valve which is open by the pilot line as it senses pressure in the pipe line.
- Fluid flows to drain.

P and O valves in right upper corner works together as a PRESSURE SENSITIVE REGENERATIVE VALVE...What it does, is on extending cycle regenrate the fluid from rod side to capped side, and that way increase the extension speed. Retract will be the normal way....I'm sure Bud have that one in his ebook somewhere... Cool

aw come on.....force makes it go....or slow....

You appear to have a boom type elevated work platform basic hydraulic schematic with a few flaws. If you dont know, dont play as you could seriously injur someone!
Get a professional to do anything you need and dont play with things you are not trained or educated in doing
