I have a hydraulic braking and fine flow control problem on a bidirectional hyd motor.
Pump is a abex dennison pressure compensated pump model PV29-2L1A-C00 and the motor is a Hydrostar MRH-30 which direct drives a cable drum.
I do not know name or model of existing manual control valve. It does not meter oil very smoothly and has no braking adjustment. It also cavitates when direction is changed or when valve is in nuetral position.
I would like to replace with a proper motor valve which has fine flow metering and adjustable braking.
It seems that 2000psi is correct for the workload and that flow is ample to achieve the max speed required.
The valve spool needs to be spring centered.
I looked at a "Brand" Model DCF16M304LF1 valve that seems to describe what I need.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to hire a consultant to assist you with your cable drum drive.

There are several ways to go and each has its own set of fixes and problems.

I do not follow your request as given. Probably due to the fact that terms like "cavitates when directio is changed or when valve is in neutral position." is not a normal cavitaion scenari.

BTW, I am not consulting anymore due my wifes cancer. Your Fluid Power Distributor usually has some expertise or knows someone who does.

I realised after I posted my message that it meant to say cavitates when lever is returned to neutral and motor continues to coast.
Thanks anyways.

It sounds as if your anti cav valve (or cross port checks) may be faulty.Your winch should also have a mechanical style friction type brake and not necassarily rely on on your "brake valve" to hold the load.I really dont think your motor should "run on" as you describe.Full overhaul may be in order...

it's possible that your crossover relief valve is poorly adjusted too...
