Hi All,

Does anyone have experience in designing pneumatic milking machines for cattle? If yes, can you pls give me the range of system pressures? I would like to design this system from scratch.

Thanks,
SDK.

Hi SDK who?
This is a fluid power forum not a Dairy.
More serious,
Milking is done by suction. Suction pressure
can be between 0 to 1 Bar which is in vaccum
reange. All the other are sequence of valving.

Nahum,

First of all thanks for your answer.

As indicated in my question, milking equipment is a pneumatic equipment and to my understanding this is a Hydraulic & Pneumatic forum for questions related to system design and troubleshooting. As an Engineer I design equipment to serve the society based on their requirements. I have recently been approached by a farmer about his concern for automating his cattle farm due to lack of constant work force.

So my question doesn't mean that this forum is a Diary farm. I hope you understand.

Finally yes its SDK.

Regards,
SDK.

SDK,

Hello. Pneumatics is used in multiple ways for a milking machine. I would highly recommend that you read the following article. Servopneumatics gently drive milking robot

As you will see from the illustration in the article this robot uses 3 pneumatic cylinders to position the suction cups onto the cow's teats.

I hope this helps.

Milking machine

I grew up in a farming community in a small town in Idaho, so I saw my fair share of dairy farms and milking machines. As I was building this I thought.

What does every good folding "FARM" need..... A "GPU MILKING MACHINE"

I am still working on issues getting all 6 GPUs to post. If I can getting it fully functional I will load it with 6 GTX 295s and pop the 100Kppd ceiling with one rig.

Specs:
Intel I7 920 CPU
ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution Motherboard
6 Gig DDR3 Memory
6 12inch PCIE flexible extenders.
6 9800GX2 dual GPU Video Cards.
1 Custom WU Milking Machine Frame
