Having to run a PTO pump limits your options. To do any reasonable amount of work at that RPM, you need fairly large pumps.
Prince makes reasonably priced PTO pumps. although they're single stage. Does your tractor have auxilliary hydraulic outputs? Josh Cosford FPH |

Define old. The pump is turning much slower than it was designed to do and could be bypassing oil internally, could have stripped keyways, etc. You need to have it checked by a hydraulic shop. Also your bargain Log Splitter must have had a Directional Control Valve and it probably has a Relief Valve built in. Are you sure it is working? Again you may have to pay someone to check out the components. Bud Trinkel FP Consultant Retired "Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, riches take wings. Something like this will be your best bet for a new pump.
http://www2.northerntool.com/product/200329702.htm You'll need a torque arm to prevent it from spinning, but basically it just slips on the PTO shaft. They're 6 spline, so if you have 21 spline, you'd have to check for availability. Josh Cosford FPH |
